Prestigious Jazz Non-profit Comes To Desert

The prestigious American Jazz Institute is a leader in jazz education with a record of mentoring students for many years. A local Community Outreach Committee includes Audree Coke Kenton, the widow of Stan Kenton; Hal Linden; Scott and Sally Ellsworth; Norton Styne, the son of famed composer Jule Styne; Marcia Laine, widow of Frankie Laine and Bobbi Goodman, Director of Community Outreach. Sponsors for 6 jazz supper concerts for the 2011 Season are Integrated Wealth Management, Desert Lexus, Pete Carlson Tennis and Golf, Palm Springs Life and TravelHost.

The Winter 2010 Season was hugely successful, resulting in music scholarships for the following nine local students:
